Studies on air cleaning

Pretty compelling list.

The combination ventilation and air cleaning should change the air 6 times per hour (6 Air Changes per Hour, ACH) according to e.g. The Harvard T. Chan School of Public Health and the Deutsche Aerosolgesellschaft. Another approach is to change/clean at least 50 (preferably 80) m3/hour per person, see Supreme Health Council (HGR NR 9616, February 2021).

Long COVID

As a  Mass deterioration   event.

10 to 30 million people in the US have reported long COVID. That’s potential for a lot of health care needs…

Microclots  seem like a cause though many theories remain plausible

Minute blood clots, leftover from the viral assault or fueled by its aftermath, might be gumming up the body’s circulation, to disastrous effect from the brain to joints.

a second leading Long Covid theory: that the coronavirus keeps hurting people by stubbornly enduring in the body, even after acute infection passes. Studies have shown “the virus is capable of persistence in a wide range of body sites,” especially nerves and other tissues

a third lead, motivated by what the blood of Long Covid patients has divulged: an immune system gone haywire even 8 months after they’d first tested positive. He had assumed that immune cells galvanized to fight off infection would have calmed down over that time span. So, “It was a surprise that these cells did not recover,”

It’s possible that a marker  for spike protein is an indicator of long COVID

The diagnosis and management of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) poses an ongoing medical challenge. Identifying biomarkers associated with PASC would immensely improve the classification of PASC patients and provide the means to evaluate treatment strategies. We analyzed plasma samples collected from a cohort of PASC and COVID-19 patients (n = 63) to quantify circulating viral antigens and inflammatory markers. Strikingly, we detect SARS-CoV-2 spike antigen in a majority of PASC patients up to 12 months post-diagnosis, suggesting the presence of an active persistent SARS- CoV-2 viral reservoir. Furthermore, temporal antigen profiles for many patients show the presence of spike at multiple time points over several months, highlighting the potential utility of the SARS-CoV-2 full spike protein as a biomarker for PASC.

As of mid 2022 a  survey paper  finds about 50 symptoms.
COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, can involve sequelae and other medical complications that last weeks to months after initial recovery, which has come to be called Long-COVID or COVID long-haulers. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to identify studies assessing long-term effects of COVID-19 and estimates the prevalence of each symptom, sign, or laboratory parameter of patients at a post-COVID-19 stage.

More than 50%   show capillary damage after 18 months.  It’s respiratory in transmission but vascular in damage.
Don’t get it.

Assessing COVID risk

Since the CDC and other public health agencies won’t help us

Assessing COVID Risk – Part 1 – Getting Infected Since we are in the "assess your own risk" phase of this pandemic, it would be helpful if public health officials would give a master class on assessing risk. Looks like academics and engineers need to do it instead. 1/13
